Introducing The Garden of Eatin’ Collection

Our latest Spring/Summer Collection celebrates the joy of indulgence with a vibrant spread of food-centric prints.

Alice, tell us a little about the Garden of Eatin’ collection.

This is our Spring/Summer collection - it's fun, playful, and a little silly in the best way. We’ve really leaned into the food theme. Everyone loved the prawns and lobster embroidery from past designs, so I thought - ‘let’s just go for it’.  It's another organic illustration, a little like our Pasta collection, but this time, we’re doing it all. You name it - we’ve got fig, croissants, strawberries, cherries, cake, ice cream, even asparagus.

What was the best part of designing the collection, and were there any challenges along the way?

As far as challenges go, getting the illustrations out of my head and into a design that feels stylistically cohesive is always the trickiest bit for me. But it was mainly all fun.

I loved picking the foods - kind of going, “a little prawn here, a little crab there…” And seeing the first sample come to life. So when I finish a design, I generally print it out, large-scale, so I can see how it sits off the computer screen. I was super excited about that, and then when the fabric arrived, I felt like a kid at Christmas again. It was such a good feeling. Because I know how much people are gonna love this.

Which staple Al Elé pieces will feature the Garden of Eatin’ print?

As always, you can choose any style, design, size, or you could mix and match the fabric exactly as you like. However, because we’re only printing on deadstock fabric - which is excess material from factories that would otherwise go to waste - each colourway is super limited. So if you see one you love, make sure you get in quick.

There will also be matching embroidery options. We will have our jackets ready to go with large feature embroideries on it, plus, I’ll be providing patches and bags so you can essentially design your own jacket. You’ll be able to mix and match smaller designs of the motifs, or add them to pieces you already own. It’s all about making it yours.

When is the collection launching, and how can people shop the collection?

We’ve just shared a few sneak peeks of the collection over on our socials, with more coming to the website very soon. The collection will have its first in-person outing at the Handmade Canberra market this weekend - so come check that out if you’re around!

After that, it’ll be coming with us to all our spring/summer events across Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne, and Adelaide. And if you can’t make it to a market, you can always pop into our Ivanhoe store - or shop it online.

Don’t miss it - shop the collection at a market near you!
